Adaptations

Here are more drawings from real life - this time experimenting with my tombo pen. The journal above is from the same natural materials. It is odd how we humans take things and make them "ours."

A Grand Day Out

This little gnombe came out of no where. He said he was stopping by to bring flowers and water for the garden. What a nice little dude~

Office Supplies

There is something nostalgic and satisfying about office supplies. We can organize and get things done with them. They add color and pattern to our desk, depending on how we are using them. Here, I experiment more with my tombo pen.

Planning and Organizing

Here are some drawings that depict, organizing, planning and figuring out problems - for an upcoming work presentation. I used the tombo pen, having fun with the nostalgic quality of the subject matter.

Swimmer

I have been swimming a lot lately. Here, I experiment with textures and line quality of the tombo pen to give the moving flowing feeling that comes from swimming. I added pattern to her suit, too.

Founder

This is a character from Native Cultures. He came to me as I drew. He symbolizes strength and confidence in the face of doubt. I will keep is teachings in mind as I venture out further in life and I learn.

This is Bonnie - she will play you a tune on her ukelele.

This man is a welcomer - he teaches you how you must proceed.

Here is a pattern I made from a drawing of flowers. I would like to refine it and experiment more with the color.

The Lion and the Garden

Here are a few drawings I did recently, with metal and turquoise in mind. Would love to create brooches from these ideas.

Other Sad Days

Feeling sad again. I can usually depict how I am feeling pretty well through my drawings - especially when I am sad and have my Tombo pen in hand.

Flowers in Black and Aquatint Experiment

I am taking an etching class at the Lawrence Arts Center, and I am loving it. I think the texture and deep darks you can achieve as well as drastic contrast is amazing and inspiring. I plan to do this more in the future. The above floral could be made into a pattern and the drawing below is a make-belive under sea world.

I think this stuff is permanently engrained in my brain

I grew up with my sister baking all around me. I think seeing desserts is engrained in my brain. I like drawing them. It would be fun to collaborate with her on a cookbook someday. She makes delicious product to this day (been doing this since she was 12!). Check out her bakery at www.cadmsbakery.com

Mission

Here was my life drawing for today. A bag of Mission Chips. I should make some guacamole...

Percivell

This is Percivell, Brer Rabbit's cousin. He has a story too...why don't you ask him?

Percivell and Brer Rabbit

Below is my life drawing for the day - a bottle of Brer Rabbit Molasses. Of course this reminds me of the old cartoons with Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby. The above bunny was inspired from this bottle of molasses.

Wild Turkey

Today's life drawing...Wild Turkey. Maybe I'm having a drink...but maybe not.

Morton Umbrella Girl

More drawing from life. I keep things naiive and with character on purpose - not an actual exact depiction of the object I am drawing. I like the flattened effect and I think it tells a story and puts the viewer in a make believe world by doing this. I want it to be fun and funky. Not too serious and static.

Cup O Noodles

Today's life drawing. These aren't very healthy, and I wonder why we are buying them. Oh yeah, they are really cheap!

Intaglio in Yellow Ochre

Here is an etching from my class at the Lawrence Arts Center. Intaglio is a lot of fun, and I plan to experiment more with it.
